Committee Structure at Beacon United Church

Faith Formation Team - responsible for co-ordinating activities that are part of how we learn and grow spiritually, observe spiritual practices, and share our faith with others.


Working Groups of this Team include:
worship and music leadership, leadership for special services such as nursing home worship, funerals, radio broadcasts, ecumenical services, Christian Education (Sunday School, Youth Group, Bible Study, Theme Conversations, and . . .)
* use of the sanctuary
* prayer chain / spiritual care network
* preparation for membership, confirmation, baptism, marriage
* administration of the sacraments (communion & baptism)
* overseeing the records of the congregation

Stewardship Team - responsible for guiding our congregation in the use and care of our resources, and education to encourage the support required to sustain our ministry together.  It is the foundation for all other ministries that occur at Beacon.

Working Groups of this Team include:
* building & maintenance
* finances
* staff & administration
* leadership for fundraising
* encouraging support for our church budget, Session Fund, Mission & Service Fund, and local ministries such as the Food Bank and Fuel Bank

Church & Community Team - responsible for programs that help us keep in touch with and care for our members and adherents, and programs that help us reach out to our immediate community and to the larger world.

Working Groups of this Team include:
* friendly visiting and pastoral visiting in family homes, in hospital or other facilities
* fun and fellowship
* church suppers
* games nights
* music events
* coffee half-hour
* newsletters
* Community Lunch at the Knights of Columbus
* community outreach projects
* education about, and support for, emergent & long-term needs around the world (e.g. Haiti)
